Well if you have not heard yet then here we go: Steve Jobs has resigned as CEO of Apple immediately but wants to stay on as Chairman of the Board. Tim Cook will replace him as CEO effective immediately. Chairman of Genentech Art Levinson said on behalf of Apple's Board, “Steve’s extraordinary vision and leadership saved Apple and guided it to its position as the world’s most innovative and valuable technology company. Steve has made countless contributions to Apple’s success, and he has attracted and inspired Apple’s immensely creative employees and world class executive team. In his new role as Chairman of the Board, Steve will continue to serve Apple with his unique insights, creativity and inspiration. The Board has complete confidence that Tim is the right person to be our next CEO. Tim’s 13 years of service to Apple have been marked by outstanding performance, and he has demonstrated remarkable talent and sound judgment in everything he does.” There are not enough words to describe how much Jobs meant to Apple. After he resigned the company's stock fell over $20 post market closing. Though Apple has a ton of talented people that helped Jobs with his creations it was Jobs who was the face of Apple. When he took a leave of absence to deal with his cancer battle, people were worried about the companies future. I think that due to that the shock of his resignation was a little less of a major blow. Will the company continue to be strong? Of course. But if we look back at history... Chrysler was once a somewhat strong competitor in the American car wars. It was lead by Lee Iacocca. After he left the company, Chrysler slowly fell and became a lackluster car maker that seems to be on the verge of 
bankruptcy every quarter. Still Apple has almost $70 billion in cash that they can use for whatever, a loyal following and industry leading products. It may take a while but Tim Cook will prove himself to be a worthy CEO. Maybe we should thank Steve Jobs for stepping down now while he can still lead the company, in a way, instead of possibly dying and leaving the company without a formidable leader. Steve Jobs has taken his 2nd medical leave in 2 years. He previously left for 6 months for a liver transplant. No one knows how long he will be out this time or if he will return. They are assuming he will return but you never know. Steve Jobs of course is the CEO of Apple. Without him the company would have probably died in the 90's. He is the face and brains of the company. He is known for his straight tot he point attitude and for demanding the absolute best and most out of his employees. Without him the company will survive, but will it be as good as it was with him? Not for a long time, or at all. Many in the tech world are hoping for the best, maybe not his rivals. I have yet to fully jump into the Apple/Mac "cult". It is cool and hip but with everyone doing it I am not sure if I want to anymore. Soon I will have to though because they will be everywhere. Apparently 1 out of 5 American teens has hearing loss, up 5 percent. As I am writing this I am blasting music in my ear so this may be true, although I am not a teen. The hearing loss was slight and equates to the sound of leaves rustling or a mother whispering, which I am sure the teen can hear but chooses not to. The cause for the hearing loss? MP3 players of course! Mostly anyway. Doctors are urging teens to turn down the volume and turn it up no more than 50% of the allotted volume. I do know that some times I wake up wondering if I am def, and then I turn on the television and I get happy. These new earbuds are smaller and fit more directly in the ear which makes the music sound louder and clearer, especially as the volume gets louder. It is suggested that you buy noise cancellation headphones to prevent you from cranking the music up too loudly. If you do not know, hearing loss cannot be repaired, once it is gone, it is just gone forever. Doctors worry that this will increase in the future and start to affect even younger children. I think instead of lowering the cost of mp3 players and lower the cost of good noise cancellation headphones. The best and cheapest pair I found were starting at $150, and I could buy any ole mp3 player for less than $100, even name brand ones. I will give this news a
