Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver are making progress in their divorce. Arnold acknowledged that he made a mistake when filing his divorce papers by denying Maria spousal support and paying for her legal fees. What happened? Arnold's lawyer checked the boxes that are normally filled out for such high-profile divorces, though he forgot that Arnold was the reason for the divorce... Now that those issues are put aside the two can focus on arranging joint custody of 13 year old Christopher and 17 year old Patrick. I do hope that this all ends well and the two can remain friendly, if not friends post divorce. I am giving Arnold a Digit Up.

Earlier today I read two reports about Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver. The first was about Arnold and how he did not want to pay spousal support. The couple does not have a pre-nuptial agreement, Shriver is entitled to half of Schwarzenegger's assets. Arnold's lawyer claims the value of the action star's real estate and other holdings remain to be determined. Of course this is a dumb idea on his part. Sure she has Kennedy money, but on her own she does not have as much as he does...maybe. She gave him 4 children and he cheated on her with one women that we know of, and he probably grope more and maybe had sex with more as well. In the end she will either get spousal support or a hefty chunk of change. I was ready to give Arnold a Digit Down until I read the second story.Christopher Schwarzenegger, their 13 year old son, has been hospitalized following a serious surfing accident. The couple came together to be by their son's side. They both released this statement, "A few days ago our son Christopher suffered an accident at the beach. While it has been a very scary week, Christopher is surrounded by his family and friends. On behalf of our entire family, we want to sincerely thank the paramedics and lifeguards who responded so swiftly as well as the doctors, nurses, emergency room and hospital staff who have cared for our son. They have been extraordinary to him and to us. We thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers and ask for respect and privacy for Christopher and our family." Apparently Christopher suffered a few broken ribs and I believe a broken arm. Maria has been by his side ever since he entered the hospital, she has even been sleeping next to him in his room. I applaud the couple for putting their issues aside for the good of their family. For this reason I am giving Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver a Digit Up.

We all know what Maria Shriver has been going through these days. This is why it was almost no surprise that she went on air to attend one of her friend's, Oprah, final shows. She walked out to a loud roar from the 15,000 people in the crowd. She had these kind words to say, "For more than 30 years you have bestowed upon me the most amazing friendship. You have shown love, support, wisdom, and most of all the truth. Over the years, you have shared that very generous spirit -- you've believed in others, so they can believe in themselves." These two women have been friends for 30 years and I am sure Oprah was glad that she made it out there even with all of her personal problems. Some say that Maria made a "dig" at Arnold when she said "...and most of all the truth." I am not sure, I will have to wait for the episode to air to see what type of facial expression she made, but either way she wins by just showing up and looking great. I am giving Maria Shriver a Digit Up for not letting these past 2 weeks keep her down.

Well by now I am sure you have heard he news, of course you have. Arnold had a baby with one of their household staffers. This explains why Maria and the kids moved out of their home earlier this year. For 10 years Arnold, his family and the staffer knew about the child, but only Arnold and the staffer knew that it was theirs. The woman told her husband it was his child, and Maria and her family treated him kindly as they would any other child. Arnold wrote in a statement, "I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family. There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I have apologized to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry." Maria responded hours later with this statement, "This is a painful and heartbreaking time. As a mother, my concern is for the children. I ask for compassion, respect and privacy as my children and I try to rebuild our lives and heal. I will have no further comment." For sure this is not going to be easy for them. Maria is a born and raised Catholic and divorce is something she does not believe in, but this could be the straw to break the camel's back. Their children weighed in on the subject as well. Patrick tweeted, "Some days you feel like shit, some days you want to quit and just be normal for a bit. Yet I love my family till death do us apart." Their daughter Katherine tweeted, "This is definitely not easy but I appreciate your love and support as i begin to heal and move forward in life. I will always love my family!" Clearly there is still love there, even if those tweets were for show, I am sure they still love their father. Maria has a lot on her plate and I do not know how she will handle it. She still has kids to raise and a life to figure out. She has mentioned many times that she does not know what she wants to do with her life at this point in time. Arnold seems like he is going to be the punching bag for the family. He has been spotted more often than his wife and he seems prepared to take on whatever the media throws at him, though the media does seem to be keeping their distance and respecting their privacy a tad more than they would any other celebrity couple. Barbra Walters mentioned something on "The View" today, she mentioned that maybe Maria's mother, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, might have told Maria to let some things slide because that is just what men do. Eunice was the sister to the famous Kennedy men and we all know they Kennedy's are partly famous for their extra marital affairs as much as their politics and business. Now that Eunice is gone maybe Maria is taking control of things and maybe she decided that this is what needed to be done. Who really knows for sure but I do know that I am giving this news 2 Digits Down.

Sad news: Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver are separating after 25 years of marriage. This came out of left field, but so so did Al and Tipper Gore's marriage. They released this statement, "This has been a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us. After a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion and prayer, we came to this decision together. At this time, we are living apart while we work on the future of our relationship. We are continuing to parent our four children together. They are the light and the center of both of our lives. We consider this a private matter and neither we nor any of our friends or family will have further comment. We ask for compassion and respect from the media and the public." April 26th was their 25th wedding anniversary but neither mentioned it on their Twitter or Facebook pages. I am sure their 4 children are going to take it very hard, Katherine, 21, Christina, 19, Patrick, 17, and Christopher, 13. I am not sure if they will get a divorce though, if they do I can see Arnold moving on to a much younger woman and Maria focusing on her children and career... I do hope they get back together though because I liked them together. Also I think they may get back together because after 7 years as Governor of California and moving back home full time of course there is going to be a time of transition to remember what it is like to have the person around you in your space all of the time again. Also they are so used to being apart that if her does get back into acting then it will feel normal again. I am sure there is more to this story so we will have to Wait an see what happens next.
