...Paul Kramer

Paul Kramer wrote a wonderful book called "Maggie Goes on a Diet". It is a book about a 14 year old girl who goes on a diet after kids make fun of her. After losing weight she becomes popular and good at soccer. Instantly overprotective mothers and others got riled up and pissed off because they think the message that he is sending to young girls is wrong. I would have to strongly disagree with those parents. I would also have to tell them to SHUT UP!!!! This book is necessary because there are SO many obese children in this country and the numbers will continue to grow as long as we have parents living in the land of denial. In the video below you can see that Maggie was snaking snacks and got fat, which can happen. She lost weight and people started to know her by her name, her real name I assume and not that fat girl or whatever kids are calling fat kids these days. Parents think that this could spark eating disorders in young girls, which could happen, but if so then I do not think you can blame it on a book. Stop looking for a scapegoat parents! Besides I ma sure they can look at their own botox Barbie wannabe mom and pick up a lot of things from her fad diets, constant cardio routines and doing whatever it takes to please daddy because he is the one making the money and develop bad habits, then whose fault is it hmmm? Does losing weight increase popularity? Yes! You may hate to agree with it but we all know this is true. The most popular women and men in the world, the most beautiful women in the world, as voted on by other people, are usually young, fit or thin, and that leads to their popularity. Ugly and fat people have to become smarter and funnier than everyone else just to get half as far as a pretty person, this is just a fact of life that we have to live with. If anything this book can be a life saving tool for some chubby little girl or boy who gets teased and bullied. Parents stop trying to control every situation for your children. By doing so you are only making them weaker and less prepared for the harsh real world that they will enviably have to face. If you keep coddling them then expect for them to be 34 and living at home with you with no plan of ever leaving. I am giving Paul Kramer 2 Digits Up and I think these mad moms need to take a chill pill, maybe with the wine that we all know they consume by the bottle, read the book and apply it to your children's life.

...C.J. Senter

C.J. Senter is a 10 year old...with workout video... C.J. started working out five years ago when his football coach told him and his teammates to go home over a weekend and get some exercise. He did some push-ups and sit-ups and loved it. Not too long after, he saw a P90X infomercial and loved that too. He's been working out ever since. C.J. does his own routines three times a week, after school and homework. With so many overweight and obese adults and children in America this seems like a good thing. I for some reason am not jumping on board. In an interview C.J. had this to say to a reporter who was in disbelief.

"It feels great," C.J. says by phone from his Georgia home. "I love staying fit and healthy."

But wait a minute. Research shows kids shouldn't be touching weights until at least age 15.

"I don't use weights," C.J. says.

Not even bench press?

"I don't bench press," he says. "It's not good for kids."

Surely he's on some insane diet, right? His dad feeds him wheat grass and cow brain, perhaps?

"I'm not on a diet," C.J. says. "I eat everything."

He teaches kids at a local gym his routines and that is all good. I for some reason am still not on board. I do not like when parents exploit their children and I feel like this is just that. His main goal in life is to become a football player int he FL. It may or may not happen, the odds are against him but you never know. While I love the idea of getting fat kids into shape I just hate the fact that this looks like a hungry parent trying to make money off of their child. For that reason alone I am going to give C.J. Senter a Digit Down.

...Dr. David Ludwig

Dr. David Ludwig is taking some heat after he wrote that parents of obese children should lose custody of their children for not controlling their weight. Dr. David Ludwig, an obesity specialist at Harvard-affiliated Children's Hospital Boston, said the point isn't to blame parents, but rather to act in children's best interest and get them help that for whatever reason their parents can't provide. Roughly 2 million U.S. children are extremely obese. Most are not in imminent danger, Ludwig said. But some have obesity-related conditions such as Type 2 diabetes, breathing difficulties and liver problems that could kill them by age 30. Though a lot of times healthier food cost more and many families find it cheaper and easier to buy fast food, in the long run it is horrible. If the child is removed form the home they will be monitored and they will not be able to eat whatever whenever they want. In Ludwig's article he discussed a few kids that were taken a way from their family. Ludwig said he starting thinking about the issue after a 90-pound 3-year-old girl came to his obesity clinic several years ago. Her parents had physical disabilities, little money and difficulty controlling her weight. Last year, at age 12, she weighed 400 pounds and had developed diabetes, cholesterol problems, high blood pressure and sleep apnea. Out of medical concern, the state placed this girl in foster care, where she simply received three balanced meals a day and a snack or two and moderate physical activity. After a year, she lost 130 pounds. Though she is still obese, her diabetes and apnea disappeared, but she remains in foster care. Though many think the idea of taking a child away from their parent is extreme I see nothing wrong with it. It would be unpopular but so are a lot of things at 1st, no matter how right or wrong they may be in the end. I would like to see this happen in all 50 states. If a child can be taken away because of abuse, neglect, etc. why not this as well? In many ways it is a form of neglect and abuse. I am giving Dr. David Ludwig a Digit Up for putting this idea out there. i do hope is catches on.

...Americans

Hey America! Why are you so fat!!!!!!!!? Less than 20 years ago no state had an obesity rate over 20%, not anymore! Now all but one state, Colorado, has a rate lower than 20%, and even they are at 19.8% I do not understand how a nation with million of jobless people can still find money to eat, and eat poorly enough to get and stay obese. Look at these numbers:
Percentage of obese adults in all 50 states

•Mississippi: 34.4
•Alabama: 32.3
•West Virginia: 32.2
•Tennessee: 31.9
•Louisiana: 31.6
•Kentucky: 31.5
•Oklahoma: 31.4
•South Carolina: 30.9
•Arkansas: 30.6
•Michigan: 30.5
•Missouri: 30.3
•Texas: 30.1
•Ohio: 29.6
•North Carolina: 29.4
•Indiana: 29.1
•Kansas: 29.0
•Georgia: 28.7
•South Dakota: 28.7
•Pennsylvania: 28.5
•Iowa: 28.1
•Delaware: 28.0
•North Dakota: 28.0
•Illinois: 27.7
•Nebraska: 27.6
•Wisconsin: 27.4
•Maryland: 27.1
•Maine: 26.5
•Washington: 26.4
•Florida: 26.1
•Alaska: 25.9
•Virginia: 25.9
•Idaho: 25.7
•New Hampshire: 25.6
•New Mexico: 25.6
•Arizona: 25.4
•Oregon: 25.4
•Wyoming: 25.4
•Minnesota: 25.3
•Nevada: 25.0
•California: 24.8
•New York: 24.7
•Rhode Island: 24.3
•New Jersey: 24.1
•Montana: 23.8
•Vermont: 23.5
•Utah: 23.4
•Hawaii: 23.1
•Massachusetts: 22.3
•Connecticut: 21.8
•District of Columbia: 21.7
•Colorado: 19.8

The Southern states dominate the list thanks to their love of fried foods. Something has to be done about this. You may not believe it but this is a national security risk. The army has already lowered its standards to let people who are not in the best shape in, but in another decade we will have to do that again and again and again until we have tons of out of shaped people serving in our armed forces and the others will be able to outlast us on the battle field, our weapons can only do so much in certain areas of the world. What will it take for us to become healthier? I partly blame the food, but as we know it is also the people. The Internet and other creature comforts have created a nation of lazy lazy people. We are dumber and lazier than ever before and yet we do not seem to recognize or care. I am giving American 2 Digits Down. Get your shit together people!

...Babies

If you know me, then you know that babies...kids are not my thing. I have zero and I plan to keep it that way for a long as I live. But for those who have them or just love them I have some alarming, yes alarming, news for you, almost one-third of 9-month-olds are obese or overweight, as are 34 percent of 2-year-olds. 15.2 percent of babies were at-risk and 16.7 percent were obese. Among 2-year-olds, just under 14 percent were at-risk and almost 21 percent were obese.Obesity does not just happen overnight people. Fat kids with fat habits turn into fat teens with fat habits and then they become fat adults on "The Biggest Loser". All jokes aside this is a trend that does not seem to be going away anytime soon. We can sit here and blame everyone except ourselves, but parents, get with it! Feed your kids properly and let them play, play for at least an hour a day. I am just waiting for the day when it becomes normal for 12 year olds to drop dead at school from heart attacks. If a child can eat as much as a fat adult, that is not good. There is no such thing as "healthy" in comparison to wearing a size 38 pants or size 16 dress and you are not old enough to drive. Also remember this, the more fat you have, the faster you will reach puberty. So all of the little 7 year old boys out there with the mini weenie, that will be there for life! Fat around the belly equals estrogen, which means along with the mini weenie you will also get boobies! Try explaining to your 1st girlfriend why you have boobies and a little wiener while she is looking at you like you are the rare hermaphrodite. Fathers, your little girls will be hitting puberty at 8, and sexing at 11, pregnant by 13 and fighting for her and the babies life 9 months later. What a wonderful future we will be living in, way to go America! Get fit, get healthy people. Feed your babies properly. Food is not a tool to shut them up when they are crying. I am giving this news a Digit Down.
