It seems as if Britney Spears' tour tickets are not selling like hotcakes... The solution? Offer discount tickets on Groupon, up to 50% off face value. The tour opened Thursday night in Sacramento to what the local paper described as a sell-out crowd. But a week prior to the show, Groupon offered $59 face-value tickets for a bargain basement price of $30. Groupon's web site shows that 1,400 people took the Sacramento offer before it sold out. But since there was a maximum of 8 tickets allowed per sale, that means there could have been anywhere from 1,400 to 11,200 people getting into the arena via the last-minute half-price offer. Similar deals have been offered in 18 cities on the tour. A Live Nation spokesperson said, "Offering a deal on Groupon is not a reflection of the quality or status or sales of a show." Really? I am not dying to see her perform a lip synced poorly choreographed (what choreography?) version of any of her songs. Her album, to date, has only sold 558,000 copies, which is bad for an artist of her caliber. Are people tired of her? Maybe, but a lot of women seem to like her, they are the majority at her concert, which makes me wonder what happened to her gay fans... Oh yeah Lady Gaga fans now. I am giving Britney a Digit Down. She needs a major career overhaul. She is no Amy Winehouse, Amy can actually sing when she wants to, but she is no Gaga, and fans love Gaga.
