...Rupert Murdoch

The 168 year old best selling British tabloid is gone bye bye. The paper at the center of the phone hacking scandal that is sending shock waves around the world was officially shut down today by its owner Rupert Murdoch. Hugh Grant discovered that his phone was hacked by the paper and exposed them, but that was not what did them in. Long known for its dubious undercover reporting techniques, the tabloid had gravely offended the British public by hacking into the cell phone voicemail of a missing teenage girl, possibly even interfering with the police investigation into her murder. Though the shutting down of the tabloid comes as a shock to everyone it is said that their was another reason why he did this. The AP reports, "The surprisingly bold move to shutter News of the World, a financial pipsqueak, is the best way to stem the flow of damaging headlines at rival newspapers and clear regulatory hurdles that stand in the way of News Corp.'s pending multi-billion-dollar acquisition of British Sky Broadcasting, a cash cow that will boost earnings of the media giant." If this is true, then Murdoch wins again. Either way I am giving Rupert Murdoch a Digit Up for possibly being the smartest man int he room.
