...Kimora Lee Simmons

After 14 years it seems as if Kimora Lee Simmons has decided to leave the clothing line she founded, Baby Phat. The female version of her ex-husband's Phat Pharm, in recent years Kimora seemed to be more involved with her new lines KLS, Fabulosity and Kouture by Kimora. She had this to say, "After 14 years of conceiving and nurturing Baby Phat, it's time for me to move on and further expand my other businesses and create a new phenomenon. I adore all those who have faithfully been with me since the beginning. I'm forever dedicated to my family, fans and customers. My inspiration has always come from the fabulous women who have been with me through the years as we've grown from young party girls to power players! "We're ready for our next journey together and we're taking a whole new generation of incredible young women with us. Girl power unite!" There will be no Baby Phat at fashion week for the second year in a row, Kimora blames the execs over the company that bought Phat Fashions from her husband a few year ago for $140 million. I never liked Baby Phat. It seemed like a truly tacky disgrace. If it were not for the money and power that Russell Simmons had that line would have failed. I wish the line would dissolve as well and just be done with. It would sell at Wal-Mart but they have standards and would turn the line down. Her new lines will hopefully be more mature and tasteful but I doubt it. In a way she is tacky, a little too tacky in a way that would even make the 70's do a double take. All in all I think this is a good move and I am giving her a Digit Up.

-----------------------------------------*UPDATE*--------------------------------------------

Baby Phat and Kimora are still not working with each other, but now Baby Phat is telling us a different reason for the split. They are saying that Kimora would pay herself and her children WAY too much money for their photo shoots. Kimora is a size 10, not a typical model size, and she would have them shoot size 2 models and crop her head onto their bodies, and then they would have to spend a lot of time and money on that and getting the wrinkles out of her neck. I never knew, probably never will know, why it cost so much to do something that most high schoolers with a few minutes and a computer do for fun but whatever. So any who this all makes more sense why Kimora is no longer working with Baby Phat. I am still giving this a Digit Up because...things are still the same.
